Relationship counselling provides a supportive space where you can slow things down, hear each other more clearly, and make sense of the dynamics between you. It can be helpful for any relationship — romantic partners, family members, parent–child pairs, or others who want to understand each other better, navigate challenges, or reconnect.
Relationship therapy takes place through Somerset Counselling Centre, where low‑cost rates are available to ensure accessible support for our community.
Using a unique 2:2 format, your relationship is supported by two qualified therapists working together. This dual‑perspective approach creates a balanced, secure space where both partners feel equally heard and understood, and offers rich insight into complex relational patterns.
Your first consultation lasts up to 90 minutes and gives time for each of you to share what has brought you here and what you are hoping for.
Before we meet, you will complete a short questionnaire and a CORE form to help us understand your situation and assess any risks.
In some circumstances, up to three consultations may be needed to understand your relationship dynamics fully and to assess whether relationship therapy is the most helpful route. Any follow‑on consultations are 50 minutes.
After the consultation process, we will decide together whether ongoing relationship counselling feels appropriate. If we choose to continue, we will agree a regular weekly session time and begin working collaboratively on the areas that feel most important to you.
Sessions take place face to face in Taunton and last 50 minutes.
Fees range from £70–£90 per session depending on household income.
There is no fixed number of sessions — we work for as long as the process feels helpful, reviewing things together as we go.
